STEPHEN CURRY DEVOURS A
MEATBALL SUB
FOR CHARITY

Press Coverage: NBC Sports, MashedAd Age, The Source

THE PROBLEM:

Subway was launching a new menu system during a PR nightmare. We needed to earn some favor back from sandwich fans while also ensuring our launch story wasn't a disaster.

THE INSIGHT:

Subway was already known for its connections to sports celebs, and for better or worse, Sports help people escape from real world issues/problems.

THE IDEA:

We decided the best way forward was to select a sports star who is known for giving back. Not only is Stephen Curry a legend of the game, he's also a champion for the non-profit Eat.Learn.Play. With a comedic spin that would end in overly-serious, tongue-in-cheek content, we asked Stephen Curry to wear a white jersey while eating the messiest sandwich on the new menu: The Boss.

We filmed the whole meal, then re-sold the jersey as "game worn" with all proceeds going to Eat.Learn.Play., promoting a good cause AND reminding customers that there is a whole new way to order sandwiches from Subway.
